When I illustrated the book and created the layout, my intention was to show the lightness and elegancy of Bodoni's style. A hair lines theme used in each page as refrain reminds of the "serifs" he developed in his fonts. Also, I played with the paper color transition. I started with the darker hues of the first pages, changed the to lighter hues in the middle and finished with the snow white color of the last pages to show the way Bodoni affected the style of typography of his time.
Giambattista Bodoni was an Italian engraver, publisher, printer and typographer of high repute remembered for designing a family of different typefaces called Bodoni.
